A Lifetime of Collaboration

Leading bands that last

Bands are like restaurants…..most close after one year and they deal with creative individuals that are known to have trouble collaborating. The bands and artists that I have been in, have stayed together longer and been successful in creating a collaborative, nurturing, and creative environment.

I knew I would be a band guy.

producer focused at golden hour

I knew in 6th grade that somehow, someway I would be a band guy.  I played with Randall Jamail and Jim Perryman to help our 6th grade talent show win 1st prize with Louie, Louie and House of the  Rising Sun. I had to borrow Randall’s brother guitar because that was way before electric guitars found their way into my life. My mom always supported me and bought me a guitar and got me lessons…but I still had other things I had to accomplish before I could dive head first into music.

Railroad Gin

My first real band that I was in came in my late twenties and early thirties. I was a late bloomer. I co founded a group called Railroad Gin with Wright Bohlmann and wrote, played on and produced two (2) CDs and a couple of cassettes (I know that ages me).

The Rafters

After that, I was the co-founder, songwriter, and guitarist/keyboardist for the band The Rafters and have co-produced and written the music for four (4) CDs of our original material.

Kozmic Cowboy

My latest all original music project was Kozmic Cowboy that I started with Glen Kozielec aka Glendrix.  We had the fortune of putting together incredible musicians such as Rick Thompson, Jay Burton, CJ DiPalma, Clark Hubbard, Bruce Sallee and Hans Bohlmann. In 2016 we released our debut CD called Kozmic Cowboy with a great assortment of rock & roll tunes with heavy overtones of jamming and creative expression. We released in 2020 our follow up CD called Karma with 14 new tracks of all original Kozmic Cowboy rock and roll.

Railroad Gin

Railroad Gin was formed by Stan Cutherell and Wright Bohlmann and was an all original band that brought together the story teller of Wright and the rocker of Stan into a wonderful style of rock and roll.

Railroad Gin was Stan Cutherell, Wright Bohlmann, Gordon Brown, Russ Burwell, and Russell Pryor.  The music they played and the songs they wrote were well constructed songs that told stories and captured the imagination of their audiences.

Their influences were Stevie Ray Vaughn, Bob Dylan, Terry Allen, and Robert Earl Keen. They loved to perform live and enjoyed their many years together. Railroad Gin produced and recorded on CD… Shot at the Wheel.

The Rafters

The Rafters are Stan Cutherell, Bill Cheek, Brad Fleming, John Page, Gordon Brown, David Petry, Randy Wheless.  Not all of these artists played at the same time but there were a few incantations of the Rafters over the years.

The Rafters were an all original music band that was built around exploration and jamming. Bill Cheek and Stan Cutherell were the main song writers, each with their own style. When the two styles melded, our original sound came out.

With influences like Pink Floyd, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Allman Brothers, Phish, The Grateful Dead, and Frank Zappa….there was interesting twist and turns to the music.  The Rafter produced and recorded three CDs…. Behind the Scene, Colorful Freedom, and Tell it Like it Is.

Kozmic Cowboy

Kozmic Cowboy was formed by Glen Kozielec and Stan Cutherell to bring together a unique flavor to their rock and Roll.

Kozmic Cowboy was Jay Burton on vocals, Rick Thompson on keys, Hans Bohlmann on drums, Stan Cutherell on guitar and Glen Kozielec on guitar.  We had fortune of having 3 amazing and unique bass players in our tenure.  Clarke Hubbard, C J Di Palma, and Bruce Sallee.  Kozmic Cowboy was an all original music band who snuck in few covers at live shows.

Their influences ranged from Allman Brothers to Eddie Van Halen.  Kozmic Cowboy produced and recorded 2 CDs… Kozmic Cowboy and Karma.
